Oct 24th, 2007 by admin | 0

Reuters photo
My friend Desiree gets right in the face of Condoleezza Rice, who is, indeed, a “war criminal.”
(Tried to embed the video, but had technical problems.
Updated, with photo from Reuters.)
Update 2: Reuters story
Update 3: This AP photo is better, due to the angle (and Rice’s expression).

Exhausted with despair

Oct 18th, 2007 by admin | 0

Boy, I’m wiped out. It was a strange day.
I went with my friend and co-revolutionary James to promote the GI Rights Hotline outside the big hoopla send-off for the poor National Guard troops who are being deployed to Iraq. But we had to make stops for sign supplies, then got caught in bigtime traffic — […]

Campaign 2008: WOT in perspective

Oct 13th, 2007 by admin | 0

Matthew Yglesius looks at Romney, and sees a pathetic, clueless bedwetter:
The idea that we should be laying awake at night afraid that a group of at most several thousand people who control almost no territory or valuable military equipment might establish a universal caliphate or “collapse freedom loving nations like us” is ridiculous. Al-Qaeda’s goals […]

Pakistan concluded $5.1 billion in agreements to […]

War on Terror: misnamed, misguided and mismanaged

Oct 1st, 2007 by admin | 0

There’s nothing like a bad metaphor to really sow misunderstanding and mayhem. When the thing being described is as serious and complicated as the threat from stateless terrorists, the consequences of a bad metaphor have corrupted our public discourse and foreign relations, decimated our Constitution and military infrastructure, and made us all less safe from […]

How do you have a war, especially The War, without politics?

Oct 1st, 2007 by admin | 0

This morning, Booman noted the otherwise un-noted irony (thanks to that famous liberal media!) of having war profiteer/Nazi collaborator General Motors sponsor Kens Burns’ documentary on PBS, The War.
Whenever PBS airs a big program/mini-series there is an announcement at the end. “Corporate sponsorship of Name of Mini-Series was brought to you by Name of Corporation.” […]

Move On wordplay

Sep 30th, 2007 by admin | 0

Tristero at Digby’s place looks today at “the problem of modern rhetoric” within the Right/Left political debate, prompted by the supposedly right-wing answer to MoveOn.org. MoveOn’s Eli Parisher makes the same mistake the left (including me) usually does in phrasing things to make other lefties nod their heads, and everyone else’s eyes glaze over.

The wingers’ […]
